Dorothy Parker painted her living room in various shades of red: scarlet, raspberry red, red-orange russet, chestnut brown, pink, wild rose red, carmine red, vermillion, magenta. Oscar Wilde was content with green, a soothing colour in times past but for him slightly decadent and provocative. For Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, colours interacted with our psyche, some were active, others passive. Despite its power, colour has been strangely absent from the lighting industry, as if the luminaire was only the form of the material and not also the colour palette to work with.

NCS
Johanson and NCS Colour have entered into a partnership since the summer of 2025, marking the beginning of a broader collaboration between the companies. Initially, we will see the launch of NOON Light on NCS+, which will be followed by further initiatives that strengthen Johanson Design’s color offering across their entire product range.
